Dear Friends and Colleagues,
We are looking forward to the Ninth International Conference on Goats
to be held in Queretaro, Mexico, August 31 - September 4, 2008, and
we believe you can help us make this a great success! This quadrennial
conference will gather goat production scientists and practitioners
from all over the world. It is the premier event for sharing the latest
research on goats, and the International Goat Association along with
many others is sponsoring this event.
One of IGA’s goals is to make it possible for more young professionals,
especially women professionals, who are interested in goat production
and research to be involved in this conference. In most of the world,
goats are cared for by women and are an extremely important source of
food and income for the poor. However research and development on goats
is still lagging perhaps exactly because they tend to be the domain
of the poor and marginalized.
We need your help in sponsoring some young professionals who cannot
afford to participate in this conference on their own. The average cost
for sponsoring a young professional’s participation is $1,500
USD [one thousand and five hundred dollars] to cover airfare, food and
accommodation. To

Objective:
The main goal of the 9th International Conference is to disseminate

Some actual topics that will be covered are sustainability, food safety,
production and product quality assurance and organic goat products.
The importance of the central theme takes into consideration the modernization
of the goat industry, under a sustainability scheme, in which scientists,
producer associations and government and non-governmental entities have
interacted with the result of improved goat production and social development.
